System 2100 – the modular seating system.
System 2100 // Friis & Moltke design

System 2100 is a modular seating system developed by Friis & Moltke architects and designed for professional and public environments where architecture, function and long-term use must align precisely.
Known initially as Global by Erik Jørgensen, the system has a long architectural heritage and continues today as System 2100, refined for contemporary projects while maintaining its original design integrity.
- A modular and highly flexible seating system
- Designed for professional and public environments
- Easy to clean and maintain
- Minimalist in its expression, rooted in the Friis & Moltke design tradition
- Durable, adaptable and built for long-term use
System 2100 was initially designed by Friis & Moltke and introduced as Global and formed part of the Erik Jørgensen collection. The system quickly became a preferred solution in architectural projects where functionality, durability and visual clarity were essential.
Today, the system continues under the name System 2100, produced by Bernstorffsminde Møbelfabrik and preserving its original architectural logic while being adapted to modern project requirements and large-scale professional environments.

System 2100 is based on a modular construction of metal frames in multiple sizes, enabling countless configurations. From open benches and long linear seating runs to circular layouts and flowing curves, the system adapts to the space’s scale, rhythm, and movement.
Its clean, graphic design language makes System 2100 easy to integrate into architectural concepts, while the modular structure allows seating layouts to evolve. Modules can be extended, reconfigured, or rebuilt as needs change, supporting flexibility throughout the building’s lifecycle.
The System 2100 series includes high-back modules that allow architects to create more enclosed zones within open-plan environments. Upholstered backs and sides provide visual and acoustic screening, making the system suitable for quiet conversations, short meetings or moments of retreat.
By combining open seating elements with high-back modules, architects can introduce nuanced zoning while maintaining a consistent architectural expression throughout the space.
System 2100 is designed for high-traffic environments where durability, hygiene and ease of maintenance are critical. Separated seat modules and an open underside provide easy access for cleaning, while robust materials ensure long-term performance.
These practical details make the system especially suitable for public, healthcare and commercial spaces where furniture must perform reliably every day without compromising architectural clarity.
- Hospitals and healthcare environments
- Libraries and educational buildings
- Office buildings and corporate headquarters
- Foyers, waiting areas and public buildings
Across all applications, System 2100 supports architecture by defining zones, guiding movement and creating places to pause.
System 2100 is produced by Bernstorffsminde Møbelfabrik, which took over production following the system’s transition from Fredericia Furniture. Production continues with a strong focus on craftsmanship, durability and respect for the original design principles.
